Lincolnshire Police: Violence Down 47% Due to RISK P1 Knife Arch

Over the summer, Lincolnshire Police initiated a multi-agency operation, named Operation California, across Skegness, Ingoldmells, and Mablethorpe. This initiative aimed to prevent violence, address anti-social behavior, and combat drug use. Key participants included Lincolnshire Police, East Lindsey District Council, and the charity We Are With You, which focuses on drug, alcohol, and mental health issues.

As part of Operation California, the Risk P1 Portable Knife Arch and a drug itemizer were deployed at popular nightspots, requiring patrons to pass through the knife arch and have their hands swabbed as a condition of entry.

Throughout the summer, Lincolnshire Police scanned an average of 150 to 200 people per venue. They credit the RISK P1 Portable Knife Arch with a 47% reduction in serious violent incidents.

Chief Inspector Lee St Quinton praised the RISK P1, stating, “We have used the P1 Knife Arch throughout the summer to support our Summertime Policing plan, aiming to make the Coastal District the safest place to live, work, and visit. The knife arch has enhanced our night-time economy approach by addressing weapon possession, illegal drugs, and violence against women and girls.”

“What we love about the knife arch is how portable it is, with officers able to setup the equipment in a matter of minutes. The 9 hour battery life is also a great for working in remote areas where power is not readily available. The RISK P1 Knife arch has been a game changer for us, from its use we have been able to reduce the percentage of weapons within our Serious Violence profile by over 47%”.

“We plan to invest further in more RISK P1 Knife arches for Lincolnshire”.
